It's time to get busy living or get busy dying.

There are moments in life where for just one moment we gain pure clarity in life, for a split second our heart mind and soul work as one and you feel you can see all that is, was and will be. See your life your path and your direction and at this point this one moment you must make a choice. I have made mine. I have chosen to live, love and be all I am, for no one can take your spirit from you and break you unless you let them.

I have made some horrid mistakes in my life, I have ran when I should have stayed and stayed when I should have run. But now I choose to fight to win and to succeed and no man nor beast can take this from me. The deamons of my past shall remain there.

While I know there is much I need to fix, cracks in my own heart that must be filled and pains in my soul that must be accepted so they cannot control me. I shall live. And I shall fight for all I love and I will not give up. Not now, and never again. This is a promise I make to myself and any who care enough to read this.

This is my story and it will have a happily ever after ending.

Its been a month!

Thats right I got my e-mail from peta saying its been a month since I decided to go vegan! how cool is that! Tonight its chinese style curry and still vegan! I really dont get why people think you cannot eat well as a vegan, I dont think there is any real difference! Perhaps its just a little harder :/

Thursday 7 April 2011

Omg its the 7th of April already!

Ok, so its the 7th of April, so in truth I should have well over 20 posts and I have..... 4/5? Oh dear.

Ok so we know I fail at daily blogging, but I am keeping up with blogging atleast!

So, 7th of april so 7 'official' days as a vegan, but since I started on the ...13th? of March and rather than work through dairy containing products gave them away so wow, Ive been vegan for a long time now, its also getting a lot easier, I need to work on a better way to store veggies, or at least judge the amount Im buying better!

Talking about amounts, omg Im horrid at working out how many beans to use! What I figure will be a meal for 2 days turns into a meal for a week, and im fine with that if It would keep for a week!!! I do love though how since going vegan how well my food keeps without needing to be frozen, and it also allows me to share food with my house and let them try and the things im attempting :)

But over all so far, its going well, and im enjoying life as a vegan! :D

I Really fail at blogging daily!

Wel since last update still going strong on the vegan thing, and Im finding the longer Im doing it the less Im worried about not being able to eat things with others, I made a fantastic vegan curry and I really enjoyed it, I forgot how nice it is eating a really healthy diet, even as a veggie it was so easy to get junk food pizza, burgers etc as a veggie is easy, as a vegan you feel more fussy asking for things to be left out, and well it does make you not want to ask.

Had a small moment of weakness though ended up getting chips last night, just salt on them, but there was that bit of me that felt a little sick that it might have been cooked in the same fat as anything with animal... I do hope not, but some things you cannot prevent.

Other wise been at this for a long time now and its going great!

Monday 21 March 2011

Over the last 4 days.

Wow, ok.  Its been 4 days and Ive been slacking a lot on whats been going on and there has been a lot!

On the bright side still vegan and going strong!

Went and did a massive shop for veggies and also went to a great shop in canterbury that sells vegan and veggie stuff, got some fake cheese, was not great but Its a nice sub once its gone I wont worry about replacing it though.

Had a fantastic dinner today  though and got a book on vegan cooking for 1 :)

Tonights dinner was fantastic though and I'm loving my new diet :)

dinner & bits

Dinner I think went really well today, had quite a long chat with Jess about vegan type stuff, as well as working out I've actually eaten vegan in the past and did not even realise!

So far the change has not had a massive impact, I've still got a lot of Quorn based products that I need to work my way though.

Anyway the dinner consisted of red lentils, potato, carrot, parsnip, and some spices, was very nice the day it was cooked, re-heat today for lunch not as much so perhaps I need to work on how to balance it out more, also I think this will if nothing else teach me how to season with greater skill as I feel that herbs and spices I'm going to find are a massive part of tache Vegan cooking, but will see how that goes!

What else, dinner tonight I've not yet chosen, I expect it will be Quorn sausages (non vegan but needs to be used up) with mash, over all I find the food filling tastes nice is not very hard to prepare. so yea I think its going fantastic so far! woo! only day 2 though, so who knows how I'm going to feel by mis april when I'm not eating anything other than Vegan.

Oh and questions people, anyone of the 3 I expect actually look at this :P the more questions you ask me the more I can realise how little I know and find out more about everything!

Edit:

Well dinner in the end just was home made chips, started so late was not in the mood to go through all the mash and sausage lark so just went with home made chips, discovered my tomato sauce is not vegan and loosing mayo is not going to be easy, will need to try the vegan version some time :/

Day 1

Before I get started, this is a way for me to keep people up to date on whats going on with my eating, and In some way give people an access route into helping me when I waver from the path of going vegan, so please feel free to comment, and ask questions, the main reason Im doing this is to become more healthy and pull myself away from the side of life were animals are used for nothing more than our own gain!

Anyway here we go....

Well, just went to the shops, and asked simply about replacement eggs and vegan cheese, while I knew the reaction would be of surprise, I really did not expect to be laughed at and then be pointed out to the other people working there. I felt like I had something on me that only others could see!

All of this and Its not even the 1st of April the first day of my 1 month vegan only challenge, up until then I'm just slowly working my way through any food that is non-vegan for example, why does Quorn have milk in it I mean common, I'm useless at cooking tofu!

I did pick up some bits, one random purchase I would never have tried as a vegetarian was this Vegideli meat free beef, that actually has the Vegan logo, I was not very hopeful, as most of this stuff I've had in the past has looked the part, but tasted more like cardboard, and some actually managed to taste worse still!

All the same, got home had some bread (that apparently has milk in it, will need to find an alternate) my Vegan friendly sunflower spread (actually used to eat that anyway so no change there) and my wonderful Beef slice... First Vegan lunch.... minus the bread, but give me a break, I'm just warming up, baby steps people!

And....

It was actually really nice!! I can not say if it was the fact I was starving, but the texture was about right, the colour was a little odd, but nothing ever will be perfect and it really did taste like beef, now I'm the first to admit when I was younger years before I met my friend Lauren who helped me go Vegi I was a true carnivore and did wonder why people who want to be vegi/vegan would eat stuff made to taste like meet and I do feel a little weird eating this, but I am impressed they managed to make something taste like beef with no animal products at all.

I guess I'll have to decide in myself as a Vegi/Vegan (where ever I end up) if I feel that eating something made to taste of meat is something I want to stop doing.

Tonight Im going over to Jess's house and were cooking up a vegan dinner, ill let you know how that goes later on! but for now. It does not look to bad, I will need to have to see how this will change my food budget though!
